Passionate about sharing your ideas?

Then apply to host 1700 in 2010!!

You are the face of 1700! One day a week you will co-host the show live from the Channel 31 studios. You will create innovative segments, conduct interviews and interact with
our viewers. Your ideas and research will be presented with charisma and confidence through training and hands on experience in a live television setting.

You will be confident, energetic and committed, and will work with your Daily Producer and Executive Producers to create a well produced and thoroughly researched television show.

You are required to be at C31 from 4 – 6:15pm on your allocated day. Expected weekly commitment: 4 hours (studio time + preparation, research)

1700 offers team members valuable experience in TV production that looks great on a CV! Time with 1700 has helped countless ex-volunteers get into courses, get scholarships, work experience and JOBS!

Applications are now open for 1700 Hosts in 2010. You MUST be between the ages of 12 and 25 to apply. There is no need to fill in the SYN Membership number if you are not a member.

Monday 23rd November

We have Apple Jack live in the SYN studios this afternoon with Gab and Alicia. They’ll be in to talk about the Change Australia Change The World – Oxfam Benefit Concert. For more information be sure to check out our show this Monday from 5pm.


Tuesday 24th November

Vanity are kicking back in the studio this Tuesday to perform live acoustic for 1700 viewers. They’ll also be talking to Tegan and Stevie Jay about their upcoming gig with the Angels! Listen in for Gyroscope, Jack Penate, Muse and more!


Wednesday 25th November

We have another band in to talk to us about the Change Australia, Change the World Oxfam Benefit Concert this Wednesday. Saritah will be in with Britt and Ben at our 1700 studios. We’ll also be playing clips from Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys and Where’s Jerome.

Thursday 26th November
We have two big acts in the Thursday on 1700. Andrew Swift will be in to chat to Damien and Kelly, as well as playing a live acoustic track from 1700 viewers!
On top of that…. We also have the ukele and electric keyboard stylings of David McCormack, for another song and interview. Don’t miss this HUGE episode of 1700, this Thursday.

Friday 27th November
Sending you off on your way this week we have Bob Evans, Pendulum, Royskopp, The View and much much more.

Monday 2nd November
Mantra are kicking back in the studio this Monday afternoon, they’ll be in to chat about the Obese Records Block Party. As well as that we’ll be hearing from The Academy Is, Mystery Jet, Creech and much more!


Tuesday 3rd November

It’s the day of the Melbourne Cup! Aka we have better things to do, so all you punters go make a bet, and enjoy the day. No 1700 on this Tuesday! We will have a lot of clips lined up for your enjoyment though, Death Cab For Cutie, The Kooks, White Stripes, The Grates, Hockey, Kasabian and many many more!!

Wednesday 4th November
Mark Steiner from NY will be in this Wednesday. He has a few gigs lined up in and around Melbourne as part if his international tour for his latest album Fallen Birds. Tune in from 5pm Channel 31, Melbourne this Wednesday night.


Thursday 5th November

Melbourne Hip Hop artist Illy will be kicking back in 1700 studio this afternoon with Damien and Kelly. He has an Obese Records Block Party gig this Friday at The Palace so make sure you get all the details this Thursday on 1700.


Friday 6th Novembert

Monday

Gab and Alicia are kickstarting the week for us with DOUBLE the fun for 1700 viewers! We have The Parking Lot Experiments AND on top of this we are also going to see The Get Go perform live in the SYN studios.

Tuesday

Tegan and Stevie Jay will be kicking back with The Vultures of Venus this Tuesday. These guys have got the upcoming album launch this Thursday in Brunswick St, Fitzroy, for more information make sure you tune into Channel 31 from 5pm.

Wednesday

Ben and Britt will be showing clips from After The Fall, Lily Allen British India and more this Wednesday. On top of that we also have an interview Benny Sheilds did with Little Boots. You might remember Little Boots from an old 1700 Clip Of The Week.

Thursday

Darkness Visible and sitting down with Damien and Kelly this Thursday. This Victorian post-punk group will also play a live track for 1700 viewers. Be sure not to miss our show this Thursday from 5pm on Channel 31.

Friday

Rachel and Vito have an interview with Vendetta fields in the studio this Friday. The Melbourne based indie group are currently playing gigs in and around the Melbourne area so this show is a do-not-miss!
We’ll also be showing clips from Hockey, Does It Offend You, Yeah, Goldfrapp and more!

Monday
Gab and Alicia will start the week of with an interview Flavia Browne conducted with Damien Leith. The formed Australian Idol winner as just released his new album, Remember June. With some gigs coming up in Melbourne this weekend, be sure not to miss this interview. Lots of music, clips and more to come this Monday!

Tuesday

Tegan and Stevie Jay will be showing you another pre recorded interview this Tuesday. This is an interview Tegan did with G-Love, including a performance for 1700 viewers. There’s a Melbourne gig coming up at the end of November, so if you want to get a taste of what’s to come, watch this interview, as well as loads of action with Tegan and Stevie Jay this Tuesday.


Wednesday

Ben and Britt have an interview to show with Dead Letter Circus this Wednesday. This Brisbane rock group have recently been announced in the Pyramid Rock Festival lineup, and with a new single out be sure to see them around playing in the Melbourne region again soon.

Thursday

We have Live at Subs in the studio this Thursday with Damien and Kelly. This Melbourne reggae rock group will also play a live track from 1700 viewers. Be sure not to miss our show this Thursday from 5pm on Channel 31.

Friday

Rachel and Vito have Where’s Jerome live in the studio this Friday. We’ll be giving away a copy of Where’s Jerome’s latest EP so be sure to tune for more news about the upcoming NATIONAL TOUR, as well as gigs they’ll be playing around Melbourne in October. Monday 5th October
Gab and Alicia kickstart a great week with The Parking Lot Experiment. This Australian rock group have loads of local gigs lined up throughout October so be sure to check out the show to hear more about it.

Tuesday 6th October

Tegan and Stevie Jay have Kisschasy in the Tuesday. You might have seen them recently on ‘The Game,’ or at a live show in Fed Square, but Kisschasy have also been announced as acts playing on 2010 Big Day Out. To hear more about what the boys are up to, tune in to 1700 this Tuesday from 5pm.

Wednesday 7th October

Ben and Britt have an interview live in the studio this Wednesday with Numbers Radio (NSW) .Numbers Radio are currently on tour for their new album Acquiring Satellites. To hear more about their latest gig, and upcoming shows don’t miss 1700 this Wednesday.

Thursday 8th October

We have  Andrew Kitchen in the studie this Thursday with Damien and Kelly. He’s in to talk about the Face the Music conference.
